Happiness - What's your take? How do you get it?
What's your take on happiness? How do you achieve it? This video article was created to really get the answers that I think a lot of us are looking for in our lives. What is happiness? Do you have it now? If you've felt true happiness at some point in your life, or are experiencing it now, what has contributed to that authentic feeling? For me, I believe happiness comes with a sequence of different things, all of which you actually engage yourself in doing. I used to, at one point, believe that happiness was something that would maybe someday come to me as a result of something good coming into my life. I got tired of waiting and decided to learn how to create it! Below is a list of things that I believe contribute directly to real, actual happiness:
- A positive interaction with other human beings on a consistent basis - Studies have shown that people who are genuinely happy in their lives are scoring HUGE in the social and human interaction sector. I've discovered this for myself as well. I know, through becoming very aware of what triggers me to feel certain ways, that a constant positive interaction with other people adds directly to my happiness! I believe this is a human wide need, whether people think so or not, it just needs to be sparked! (again)
- Moving towards something you want in your life - When you're constantly moving towards the attainment of something, be in tangible or non tangible, there is an ingredient in that process that I believe adds directly to your happiness. Think about it, haven't you been at your best when you were moving towards the achievement of something in your life? This can be anything! Losing weight, getting better at something you love, learning more, studying for an important college exam, improving a skill, becoming more intelligent, working your way up the ranks in your business (or if you're actually in the military), and more!
- Engaging in New Activities - I believe that when engaged in doing something you may have never done before, there is a certain spark in your brain that adds a great level of excitement and joy to your life. Call me crazy, but I also believe that this is inherent in all human beings around the world. Some people just don't give themselves the chance to find this!
- Stimulating your brain - I made the biggest shift in my life as a result of a change in my brain. I read book after book, applied principle after principle and engaged in the application of strategy after strategy to help me to change my life and as a result, not only did I radically change the situations I was in, both in my head and in my external reality, but the stimulation of my brain with new information added directly to a great and authentic feeling of true happiness. I believe that your brain actually wants new information all of the time. I believe that human beings enjoy their lives more when they are learning on a consistent basis.
- Contribution - I've been my happiest when something I did, helped another human being. Having people email me from all around the world about some of the articles on popm is one of the most fulfilling feelings I've ever experienced in my entire life. What about you? Doesn't that trigger something in your brain? It is my belief that beyond our actions, even our behaviors, we all have an innate need to contribute to other people and the lack of contribution to the world, or just to other people in our lives, is an unconscious contributor to unhappiness. Make sense?
- Progress - I think that measurable results in your life creates an incredible feeling of absolute joy. Think about it! If you've got actual progress that's measurable to say, one month ago before you started to take action on something in your life, doesn't it make you feel amazing? In a system I am creating for goals, measuring your progress by actually tracking your advancements is one of the biggest parts! It gives you the feeling of accomplishment and also can help you to KNOW that your work is getting you somewhere, even if you're not seeing instant and profound results. The blind faith period is the period in which most people quit. Sadly enough, once people quit in those situations, only a small few get back up and fire away again and you know what? The ones that do, invariably are the ones that achieve great things in their lives. (Hint)
I believe there are many more contributors to happiness, and I write about them throughout the website, but now, it's your turn. I value your opinions, beliefs and experiences so much! What do you think about happiness? How is it achieved? What has made you happy in the past? What do you think can help everyone else be happy? What is something you absolutely know is a direct contributor to happiness? I hope I've triggered some responses, comment away!
I believe, happiness is about when you know and feel that each and everyday you are constantly improving yourself without losing your control over your life.
Great Comment Dhines. I totally agree. I've found profound joy in everyday driving towards improving my life in some way, this is one of the keys to true fulfillment! Thanks for commenting, I appreciate and value your input!
I believe that in order to be happy, you have to surround yourself with positive people. Negativity breeds negativity. Therefore, one must remain positive even in situations that are difficult. There are times in all of our lives when things are not going well, but of you have surrounded yourself with friends and family who have the motive to support and not hinder, the happiness will always reemerge, and one can become stronger from having had to deal with whatever the issue was. One must also have a healthy outlet with which to deal with any negativity that arises, or just a way to deal with stress. Personally, I play Scrabble and do a lot of scrapbooking, both of which help to lower my stress levels. I also like to read and hang out with my family and watch TV. If you have coping mechanisms that are not harmful, a positive attitude will thrive.
Great Comment! That's a huge thing Shira and the unfortunate thing is that there are probably more negative minded brains out there than there are intelligently resourceful ones (what people also call cheerfully optimistic and receptive to true flow and creative action). Surrounding yourself with the right people is a significant part of happiness! Because we're all connected in some way (I believe) we need a pretty consistent interaction with like minded people, both because it adds juice to our lives and confirms our core beliefs that our philosophy on life is true. Great point about coping mechanisms! So... your a genius huh? I didn't know! Thanks for commenting
I believe happiness is found within yourself, tho others will make you laugh, it comes from within you. When you do for others, when you take responsibility, when you accept who you are, and learn to breathe in life's breath. Watch yourself, learn from yourself as to what makes you feel good... then just keep doing them and add to the list. God wants you to be happy, healthy and weallthy and the way is provided you just have to desire to be. Desire... the other story. Thanks.
Great Stuff! The most significant thing here is that happiness lies within us! Cultivating the awareness of that and truly working to understand how to bring it out, is the fuel to life! Great comment
Happiness is definately one of the most valuable ,but underated, products on the market, but definately can't be bought.. it is absolutely a living, breathing, thing. Has the ability to grow. And is contagious..I believe a large piece of happiness is working towards happiness.. my advice... when you have it.....hold on to it and help spread it.!!!!!
I am in complete support of your view on happiness. Thanks for commenting on the site Ron! Great stuff - Contagious it is! Imaging what we could do with more of it? That's the point here!
I think that happiness comes when you accept that you have to make it. Good article!
Good one! I am in support of that completely. Giving the control to circumstance, someone else, or the outside world is like giving up the control completely! Once we realize that we are the ones that create it, even when something on the outside induces it, we can train ourselves to create it more!
