10 Undeniable ideas, Optimism equals optimization
I hope you enjoyed the video! I was at Barnes and Noble, just ready to drive home when the urge suddenly hit me to record a video about the main trait that creates things in this world, the main "way to be" that carries us through the times where we have to have blind faith, one of the most important ingredients to the recipe of a great life, Optimism. What is it? Well, let's first talk about what it isn't. As we discussed in the video, optimism isn't positive thinking, it isn't false hope and it isn't expecting something to happen without taking intelligent action on a consistent basis. Optimism is a resourceful strategy, mental syntax and method by which to process incoming information. To make this the easiest it can be, I've created 10 things that make the difference. Let's call this "10 undeniable ideas on how optimism can create success in your life."
Focusing on what you can learn, literally asking yourself the question "what can I learn RIGHT NOW," from any situation in your life instead of focusing on the problem, what's wrong, who's to blame and so forth, will invariably put you in what I call a "place of dominance." That place can be defined as the place in which you are most resourceful in terms of the way you angle life situations, the way you interpret things, the meaning you give circumstances and how as a result, you create favorable outcomes in your life. This is optimism.
Optimists are people who never truly fall. What would happen if every time you were attempting to accomplish something in your life, you hit a barrier and then stopped abruptly? Wait a minute.. people do that all the time! What if, the barrier was an opportunity to learn? What if your goal was going to be met regardless of the stopping points? Listen, optimism isn't seeing things the way they aren't, it's seeing things the way they could be with massive and consistent action. An optimist never falls, he/she just brushes their shoulder off.
Anything significant to any human being worth attempting to achieve is only manifested through the understanding that it's possible. Would you attempt something if you didn't think it was possible? Of course not, in fact that's why 90% of people just stroll by in life, because their mind doesn't believe things are possible for them so they never try. Optimism is believing it is possible for you to get where you want to be in your life.
Optimism created our world. What about Honda? Through war, shortage of materials, many restrictions, years of failures and more, Honda created what today is one of the largest manufacturers of vehicles in the world. Without the persistence, ingenuity and sheer optimism, how different would things be? The people in our past that put us where we are had only one trait that ensured their success, Optimism.
What is the baseline factor of unity, cohesion and togetherness? Optimism. Hope for our future as a species, hope up until now that has created massive action to get us where we are, togetherness with the belief that as a unit, we can do anything and unity in numbers are all the fundamental core components of all things on earth.
Optimism equals realism. When people say, (as we discussed in the video) "I'm a realist," what they are really saying is "I'm scared to let my guard down, I'm afraid to lose, to be hurt, to fail again, to feel the pain of not succeeding so as a result, I don't believe things are possible, I won't try, I'll get whatever I can get and I'll settle at that." A human being that sees opportunities to love, to grow, to advance, to learn, to contribute, to achieve, to accomplish, to create and to unite, can be described by using one word, Realist.
Optimism is conducive to achievement. If you're looking to do something, don't you have to optimize the thought until you've created a positive outcome? If you want to become a master achiever, or at least someone who takes charge of their life and takes action towards what they want, optimism will lead and contribute directly to your achievement. All great achievements were created in the mind of the person who achieved them. It was an image, it was sounds, it was feelings, and most importantly, it was optimism.
We're optimists by nature - If we weren't optimists, would we even try to walk at 1 years old? Would we attempt to learn our language? Would we continue to go in life? Of course not. We're all optimists by nature, it's the conditioning of our world, it's people who look at things from a negative place and it's people who have simply stopped trying that turn to pessimism, simply to feel certain about something. You are inherently optimistic, cultivate this trait to a larger degree, and success in your life will inevitably follow.
Optimism creates opportunities. Trained optimists (people who have consistently looked towards the silver lining, what they can learn from situations, how they can use their environments) somehow always find avenues to create opportunities that cynical or pessimistic people do not. Why is that? Coincidence? You be the judge. It's a matter of achieving or not, creating or not, finding the opportunity or not, what will you do?
