09/05/10 It takes mental toughness. In my continuing search for different ways to organize resources to produce great results in life, I've found one thing very consistent with being great and that is really REALLY using your mind. At this stage in our evolution, and at this stage in the world, we don't need to use our brains as much as we actually can, so people don't. Personal development has a lot to do with simply using your brain more. Intentional change and the conscious creation of an extraordinary life starts in the mind, and is practiced, just like a skill, everyday until it becomes more natural and automatic. The trick is to stay with it until it becomes a part of you. If you're on a quest to change your life my friends, remember, USE YOUR BRAIN MORE. Actually sit down and think... trust me, you have time for that. Take ideas to the next level, think different thoughts and live to intentionally invent great experiences and positive emotion. Have a great Sunday!09/04/10 I want to share with you a process that can help change your life. Everyday, when I wake up, I do a number of different things to rev myself up to certainty and total power so that I can start running at my day. The brain can be trained to do anything consistently, especially if you do something consistently! Most people wake up and have a sequence of mental firing which consists of negative expectation, internal images that make them feel like crap and a depressed, slow paced, monotone internal dialog that would probably only get Ben Stein pumped up. If you change all of that, by consciously creating your day in your mind the way you want it to be, with the images you want to see and you actually take charge of your automatic brain processes, you'll start to feel alive again. In addition, probably the most profound part of this, you'll actually see very similar results in your day to what you thought in the morning. Is this coincidence? No. This is similar to what psychologists calls "structural tension." Structural Tension is knowing where you are (current reality) and then clearly defining in your head where you want to be, and the brain making it happen. This is why we say visualize your goals, get totally clear and actually design the mental images. Doing this consistently tells your brain to bridge the gap between where you are now, and where you totally expect you'll be. This isn't psycho babble, it's a scientifically proven, incredibly compelling, brain training reality creating technique. Those of us who have realized this, and use it to our advantage, simply have the edge. Now you do too. Have a great Saturday and happy Holiday Weekend!!
09/03/10 Decide. One of the simplest things to do is make a decision right? But what if you've practiced indecisiveness for years? Then your decision making strength needs cranking! Look, when you decide something, you cut through the air. You detach from any other limitation or situation debilitating your forward movement. Think about it for a second: If you decided right now, that by the end of next month, you will have lost 20 pounds, what will happen? If it was a real decision, you'd find the best NEW way to continue to eat and move your body, and you'd lose the weight permanently. What if you decided that you were going to everyday, look for and apply to the jobs of your dreams, regardless of your work history, experience or any other factor? I have no certificates in the Information Technology industry, I've taught myself what I know, and still there was a huge gray area with networking and security, but I decided I wanted to work in IT. I sought out business owners for two months everyday. I applied to numerous places, I developed near mastery in communication skills and had an interview with a business owner in the area that does a lot of network work, just the thing I wasn't too strong in! But do you know what happened? Me, no certificates, no real documented experience working with networks or computer for that matter, I got the job. My mentor tells me, "it doesn't matter if I have to teach you everything I know until you have it solid, there is one thing that can't be absent, that you have, when interacting with clients and that is good communication and the ability to build rapport, make people feel comfortable and ensure they know that you know you've got everything under control. You see, the stories you have about what stops you from deciding are just stories. The world is limitless in its possibilities. Our generation, and even the generation before us live in a world of fear, doubt and uncertainty. It's those who don't believe that crap, who go out and interject and who develop the mind set of a LION, who wakes up every morning knowing he has to hunt and so when the time strikes, he's running. When you wake up, RUN. When you're in your day, make decisions, and then RUN. Everything you do, in order to get what you want, you've got to use your true POWER to DECIDE, and then my friends, RUN towards your destination. 09/02/10 Thursday already! Ready for the weekend? I am! Take some time today and ensure you're on track with what you want to be doing. Give yourself a pat on the back for the things you've accomplished. Take a half an hour and get totally clear on what you're doing. Ask yourself, "what I have done this week that moves me closer to my ultimate aim in life?" If you haven't done much, you know where your energy should be directed, if you have, great! Refine it! I'll say this constantly: Every day of your life is a day to train your mind and to get better. Everyday is a day to work on yourself because it's the people who do this every single day of their lives that are getting what they want out of life. There is no super complex, advanced technological system for creating the life you want in 2010, it's simply making the decision, everyday that you will work towards achieving mastery in communication, training your mind, focusing on opportunities, breaking through fear, reading valuable and helpful information, being grateful, and being consistent with following through on your plans, once you've clearly defined what they are. Everyday. Everyday. Every single day.
SEPTEMBER 1ST! Ahh Man! Ready for Fall? I am! This is going to be great! Allow the change in season to help your change in mood. Intentionally work towards feeling excitement and happiness everyday. Try a simple exercise: Hold the word "excitement" in your awareness for the entire day. Throughout the day, keep bringing the word into your mind. Even say it! "excitement, excitement, excitement," out loud or to yourself and I guarantee you'll experience it more. Not because of some magical force, but because of the signal you're sending to your brain. Go out there today and consciously create happiness. Create good feelings from everything and you'll discover that it doesn't take some outside thing to line up for you in order for happiness to come, you create it in your body. 08/31/10 Greatness is developed. There is a misconception floating around that goes something like this: Extraordinary people were born with a gift. It's genetic. It's fixed. They were born that way. I can't be like you. All of that is simply mental programming. I, at one point, had none of the skills I possess today. I wasn't a good speaker, my communication was horrible, my philosophies ran me into the ground in my life, which built and reinforced those and other philosophies that I could never do anything great. What's the difference between then and now? I realized that none of that crap is true, and that greatness is developed. I became submerged. I slam dunked myself into personal development and human potential. I started reading, learning, applying, thinking, and acting. I started to slow my mind down to everything. I started to notice patterns in both successful and unsuccessful people. I learned about the human brain. I learned and applied all of this stuff and literally changed my entire life. Now, I write to you, a changed person. Not some crap garbage, fluffy impossible over exaggerated positive stuff, I literally changed my brain, and took enough action, refining all of my results from feedback and not only created a new mind set, but created a different physical reality. But how? I developed it. Your brain, once activated and stimulated the right way, with something you truly grow to love and with the belief that you can go out there and do pretty much anything you want, becomes a ramped learning machine. Once you realize that what people told you isn't true about your capabilities, you'll see things differently and once you actually go out there and start creating, that is doing specific things, with specific outcomes in mind, and you manifest this stuff as a result, you'll get the picture! Greatness is developed. Develop it everyday. It is an everyday push. Imagine what you could be if everyday of your life, you worked towards advancing your mind, and advancing your life? 08/30/10 Almost September! Listen, have a great Monday! If you're an entrepreneur, you know that today is the best day of the week because you get to start again doing the things you love to do. The weekend was great, back to what you love! Now is your chance to go out there this week and do better than last. If you do a little bit better, in training your mind, in taking action, in improving yourself and your skills, before you know it, you will have created a massive change. Your success depends on a bunch of little improvements throughout your life. If you're working on the little things, EVERYDAY, BOOM, you'll get a huge result! Remember that! Because think about it, the really bad stuff in life doesn't just happen to you all of the sudden right? It may seem like that, but in reality it's as a result of a bunch of little things that finally added up. Let the world do it's math for you, YOU just keep giving it the things to add by improving yourself, your mind, and your skills every single day of your life. Enjoy your day today!
08/29/10 Sunday! Ensure you get some rest today. Give your mind a recharge. Take 30 minutes, sit down where you can't be bothered, close your eyes and relax. Let your mind wander and you'll soon notice your thoughts start to clear out. Focus all of your attention exclusively on your breathing. If your mind starts to wander off to something else, direct it right back to your breathing. This both strengthens your "attention muscles" and will clear your mind of thoughts. Your brain changes states, you'll feel differently and you'll notice an increase in the quality of brain functioning. Take another half hour and think about what you did this week that worked well for you and make a decision that you'll simply do more of it and identify what wasted your time and cut it out! Measure your progress in your life. Recite your accomplishments and give yourself a reward for doing the things you got done this week. Continue to reinforce to yourself that you have control over your mind. Have a great day today. Enjoy your day of rest and walk around the entire day creating happiness consciously. If you literally put effort into being happy, you'll find that you can be happy. DO it enough, and you'll train your mind to do it all of the time. The brain works from training, put the right things in there!!
08/28/10 If you get an idea, run with it. So many times I've had ideas and never created something real from them, but other times, once I came across this profoundly simply principle, I did extraordinary things with ordinary ideas. The challenge could be that when you think an idea, your subconscious goes "no, forget it, it's not possible," or you get other thoughts in your mind similar to that. That's why it's important to train the voice in your head so it's always saying the right stuff and takes you in the direction you actually want to go in. You'd be surprised how many of your ideas are actually great ideas. You've just never taken them to the next level, which is to develop the idea in your mind for a couple of hours or days, and then after you have a definite plan to make it real, go out and take physical action until your idea becomes something tangible. I've realized that just sitting down, taking a break from your "oh so busy day" to think for more than the normal thought burp, will change your life. Acting on what happens in your mind in those times, will continue to change your life and if you do this consistently, you'll create some pretty extraordinary experiences!! Have a great Saturday and remember, every day is a day to train your mind. You have the ability, use it.
08/27/10 Psychic Entropy is when something enters your mind, or you represent something that enters your mind, in a way that goes against what your main goals in life are. Your attention is one of the most important things you have and yet most people never try to train it! Consider this: How many times in a day does your attention get sucked up into something you didn't plan on? A lot right? It's normal. But how many times a day to you lose hold of your attention, where you want to focus on one thing, but somehow you get off course? Does your mind bounce from idea to idea to thought to thought? Imagine what you could do for yourself if you trained yourself to stay on one thing for long enough to make something extraordinary happen as a result? In life, once you have a clear picture of WHAT YOU WANT, and you've began to map out HOW TO GET THERE, ensure that you continue to focus your attention on making it happen. Sure things are going to happen, it's inevitable, but you can be sharp enough to maintain a consistent precise attention on the things that are most important to you. In addition, in your day, minute to minute, thought to thought, guide your attention. Train your brain to focus on one thing for a specific amount of time until you have developed the ability to focus without interruption on thoughts (to take them the next level and develop them), emotions (so that you can ask yourself "do I want to feel this way, and if not what can I feel instead?") and what you're doing physically. Attention, used the right way, creates the life you want. Watch the distractions, nurture your attention and start to train your mind to use it in an effective way! It will make a huge difference in your productivity, your happiness and in your results. Enjoy your Friday!!!!
- 08/26/10 Conscious Selection - What are the people around you saying? What do they think about achieving goals, happiness and fulfillment? One of the patterns that started popping out at me is that as soon as you start to have a mission in life, a purpose, and you're moving towards it, suddenly people start to show a bit of contrast. Friends start to get a bit weird, your family even does to! People are naturally skeptical of people with passion and aim. Why is that? BECAUSE IT'S SO RARE. Not many people understand in their gut, the true power of getting clear in life and then deciding to live everyday to make it happen, which is why you'll hear many people tell you things like "don't live in a fantasy land, be careful, make sure you have a secure job because that's what you need, don't put yourself out there because it might not happen," crap like that. All of this is people subconsciously telling you what they believe and think is or isn't possible for them. Additionally, people know that if they were to try and do what you're doing, creating a purpose in life, going towards it everyday and living life to achieve and get better, that it would simply demand more of them and most people are afraid of going there. So the point here is select what you believe and listen to from the people that are around you. The 5 people you are around most, have a bit more influence over your RESULTS in life than you think, ensure you're letting into your mind, the right stuff and netting the stuff that may hold them back and will do damage to you too! Seek out the beliefs of the people who are out there achieving and doing what they want to do in their lives, and adopt those beliefs. Don't circulate on something someone else said about the possibility of YOUR GOALS, because it just means they are not where you are at. Consciously pick the right stuff to go into your mind! 08/25/10 Oxygenated Blood. You're probably thinking WHAT! What a way to start the morning! Listen, we talk about how to achieve mastery in life on Power of a Positive Mind. In fact, that's what the site is about, that's what I am about, achieving mastery. Everyday, as I learn more about my mind, the world, and everything in between, I will continue to share the things that I have confirmed are sure fire ways to achieve a high level of competence at this game called life. Exercise is one of those things. I know, I know, it has such a negative connotation right? You think "ohhh.. exercise, ehhhh.. don't wanna." Not to mention probably everyone you know rationalizes about why they "don't have the time" to exercise and you know what? BULL! We all have time for what we make a MUST. Are there some current MUSTS that you have right now that aren't serving you? Maybe you could shift some things around to fit in the one thing that your lymphatic system needs to keep you alive, movement. In the morning, start a ritual where you exercise for at least 15 minutes. You could go on a walk, a light jog, head to the gym, or engage in the other thousands of choices you have to exercise and get your body moving. The morning is a great time because it sends oxygenated blood directly to your brain which facilitates the process of healthy brain functioning. What does that mean to you? You'll think more clearly, you'll be more sharp, you'll be able to focus your attention better, you'll be more precise and you'll have the edge in life if you do this everyday. Additionally, your lymphatic system doesn't have a pump from which to get juice to cycle around your body and fight things like antigens (viruses, bacteria etc). YOU have to pump it yourself from BREATHING. Breathing engages this system so that the lymph fluid can actually move around your body and to it's job. Think of exercise like the HEART that pumps the blood around your body. Your heart will do it's job either way, (as long as you're not eating cheeseburgers everyday!) but your lymphatic system needs your help. Start today, you'll feel like a million bucks, you'll be more healthy, more vital, more on top of your game, and it will add to the power of one of the things that shape your behavior, your self esteem. 08/24/10 Interjection - I did a Power Speech last night about the one thing that shapes the lives of human beings, and that is Interjection. Go to the Power Speech Page to listen to "Make a decision, train your mind and go," and really use what we talk about. What I've found is that this philosophy of "just go with the flow," and "guess it was meant to happen," leads people into traps where they can't really use their own power to create in their lives. I believe that God has given us all of these incredible things, our bodies, our minds, and our hearts, so that we can organize our resources in an effective way to go out there and do what HE DID for us, the basis of human nature, CREATE. An active interjection in your mind, begins the process. An active interjection in your life, initiates the creation of your dreams and the reinforcement, everyday of both, creates an extraordinary life. Thanks for reading! Use this!! 08/23/10 Let's do something together. Let's make this week better than last. I want to invite to you begin a routine of conditioning your mind. Listen, your mind has been sort of "programmed" to do whatever it is doing now, to think whatever you think right now. This happened through repeating the same thoughts, actions and being shown the same kinds of things from your society and the people you associate yourself with over and over again. Saying to yourself, over and over again, for 10 minutes that you're a great "FILL IN THE BLANK" or that you're grateful for _________ and that your future is going to be one filled with ________ because you'll continue to develop the skills in _______ to become _________ is a powerful thing. It's powerful because the more you do it, the more you send a message to the brain that you're serious about it, the more you'll notice situations in your life that are congruent with whatever statements you say to yourself. It's like you're telling your brain "Hey, this is what I want, this is what I want to be like, and this is what I want to feel," you'll notice over time, it listens. This principle goes way back to autosuggestion, but to truly make it powerful, use your body, your voice and get intense! Start a 30 day conditioning ritual where you say certain things, everyday, as soon as you wake up for 10 minutes! Have a great Monday. Go out there and tackle the challenges, get better at what you love and make your day something you'll enjoy.
08/22/10 Sunday! Rest Today! I know I will! Today is a great day to reflect and measure progress. Measuring progress gives you the opportunity to look at what you've done that worked, that was effective and that served you in some way so that you can resolve to do more of it and feel good that you made it happen! Give yourself a pat on the back and pick out all of the things you did that you'll keep doing! Be happy about it, say things to yourself like "great job," if no one else says it, you need to say it to yourself! Your unconscious mind needs recognition for what you've been doing. This is also a great opportunity to get absolutely clear as to what may have been wasting your time. Once you've identified that, resolve to eliminate it completely. Revisit your goals again. Start writing things down. Get totally clear as to what you want to do with your life and start to design your future in your mind. A great method of inducing total excitement when envisioning your future is to picture yourself doing the things you want to be engaged in, and then right in the middle of that, actually put yourself in your body, as if you're looking at things through your own eyes. If you can put yourself there, your nervous system will believe you're actually there - Once you have a feeling of certainty about something, your brain works to make it a reality. The challenge is we were hypnotized as kids to STOP using our imagination in creative ways, so we did. The truth is that using that thing in your head, called your brain, for engineering future events you'd like to have happen, is the foundation for it actually happening in your life. I get so excited when I picture my future and it compels me to take action. Everything on the site, all of my videos, and my upcoming speeches were all in my head at one point, now it's all real. 08/21/10 If there is one thing that I pay particular attention to, it's mental conditioning. Put differently, looking at one of the Co creators of NLP and what Tony Robbin's was saying at the time John Grinder was emphasizing it (still is to this day) it's your rituals. Your life is shaped by your rituals. What you do every morning. What you think consistently. The things you do a lot of. The states you are in the most and the tendencies, habits and patterns you have. I've made it a must to create new rituals and they have changed my life. For example, when I wake up in the morning, I ensure I put myself in state by reciting all of the things I'm grateful for, all of the things I want to accomplish in my life, I visualize it and I repeat some phrases I want to embed in my mind. The results are undeniable. I've literally programmed my mind for success and happiness in life, and began to manifest it as a result. I invite you to engage in a ritual, something you do every day of your life. Training your mind is what I believe the foundation for change in your life. The human brain is highly programmable, and you could just let it be programmed by everything around you, or you could choose to program it yourself. When people make the decision to shape their own minds, to start paying massive attention to the one thing that runs your life but in the society we live in here in America doesn't pay much attention to, their lives change, and so did mine. Not only have I been able to accomplish and put in motion things I never dreamed possible for me, but I feel like I am a completely different person.. and this isn't some crazy psycho babble, I realized that I was going through neuroplasticity, and the changing of my brain. I had to find out why I felt so different based on all of the new information I was bringing into my mind. My belief structure changed, how I seen the world changed, how I felt changed, who I was changed, and all of my philosophies by which to live life shifted, all of which helped me (and still helps me) to produce the life I want. Take it into consideration. Give yourself a ritual, start training your mind - It's the foundation for your success, happiness and fulfillment in life.
08/20/10 Can you feel the weather starting to shift already? It's great! Fall is coming, things are changing, and it's going to be a whole new year. Fall is a great time to start to engage in the things you've been holding off on. You know what I found? I found that the cycle of success is and will always be there, psychology, then action and while I talk a lot about the psychology, the action is extremely important. In your life, with whatever you truly want to accomplish, get ready to take action. We can do it together! I'm planning some huge action in the next couple weeks. I have a speech to go to, to listen to another speaker and talk with her after the speech, I have to price out hotel conference rooms for a speech I am going to give, and I have to set the whole thing up! It's going to be great! Wouldn't it be great if we just acted on what we knew we should do? What stops us? F.E.A.R. False Expectations that Aren't Real. People think about things in their minds and create mental images of them failing, or it not working out. It's never accurate! BUT, we live by internal images, and when we see them, we react emotionally to them and if it doesn't feel good, the brain goes "NO." I found that managing your state is a great way to break through fear on the spot, as well as envisioning your outcomes in many different ways, all of which are good. It's a matter of taking MORE TIME, literally an hour, to think about your outcomes. Change them around in your mind, because YOU HAVE THE CHOICE TO DO THAT, and you'll find you feel differently about it. Start engaging in the limitless power of your own neurology. Take Action! 08/19/10 Why is someone motivated to do great things? What is the difference between someone who is moving towards something and those who aren't moving at all? What is the distinguishing factor? I used to ask myself this question everyday, until I came across the answer, or answers. I think many things motivate an individual to get things done and to go out there and make an impact on his or her life. Like we talked about yesterday, purpose plays a huge role. But you know what? One of the strongest factors in a person out there achieving and making a life instead of just living an obligation is simply curiosity. I am incredibly curious as to what's out there, and when I think about going and exploring, I deal with the fear that comes to mind right away. Do that enough, and the fear will turn into more curiosity. Fear is debilitating, but if you can control it and use it, it can fuel you greatly. Start wondering what is out there for you. Start to really sit down and think about the future. Take yourself out of your normal brain activity for about 20 minutes and fire that thing up a bit more. Get curious, start to wonder about what you're truly capable of and start engaging. The process to achievement is a lengthy one sometimes. It takes for you to get your psychology straight, know what you want and have some kind of plan to make it happen. But who says you can't start now? I started without a solid plan, the plan will come but one of the main fuel points for me was my curiosity to see what other kinds of mind sets I could achieve, what beliefs I could change, how much I could motivate myself and it's gotten to the point where when I wake up I go "how much can I learn today? How happy can I be today? What can I engage in and learn about today?" Instead of the typical focus on how the day is going to be bad, negative expectations and to much attention on useless data. Get curious!
08/18/10 Wednesday! I've been at my best when I had a purpose. I know we live in a society that believes that purposes just sort of come to you, and that is one way to see it, but I believe that human beings have to consciously seek out a meaning in life, and then once the aim is established, work every day to make it a reality. This is what fuels guys like Disney to do what he did, it's what carries people like Sylvester Stallone to total success and it's what's been driving the heck out of me! Purpose! As soon as I got totally clear about what I wanted in my life, nothing has been the same. You might say "well I just don't have it in me," or "I don't know what to do," and to that I say I know. Your brain is just programmed to think that, because you've never gone down that road of total clarity and absolute certainty about something. That's where visualizing something you really want and training your mind to have beliefs congruent with your goals comes in. The thing that you think you can't do, is the thing that you can do, and can probably turn into the purpose of your life. The idea that it can't be done, is about as small as a neuron. Small Particle Restrictions don't deserve to actually dominate 6 foot tall human beings. ;.) Read this paragraph twice a day to yourself and I guarantee you'll find a purpose! That alone has the ability to transform your mind!
08/17/10 Today can be a great day if we decide it will. What will you decide? Do yourself a favor, today, don't hold anything unresourceful in your mind for any longer than 20 seconds. Replace it with a mental image of you accomplishing a goal, doing something you want to do, having the life you want or anything creative you can think of that you simply MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD. If you do this everyday, you'll train yourself to do it more. If you train yourself to do it more, you'll do it automatically. If your brain operates like this, you'll become more aware of opportunities, you'll be in good moods a lot of the time and you'll have the internal drive to take action in the direction of your desires in life. There is a certain and specific mental strategy (mind set) for success and happiness, and there is definitely a strategy for failure and un fulfillment! The challenge is, to many people are engaging unconsciously in the strategies that get them bad results. If you can learn to train your mind with successful patterns, you'll have a different experience in life! Have a great day today, use these tools throughout your day!!
08/16/10 Monday!! Woooooo! Who else wants to dominate the week? Let's do it! This week, expect more out of yourself and really align with your expectations. Do what you wouldn't normally do, take 1 more action towards what you want and work towards training your mind every single day. If you have a habit you'd like to change, engage in a new replacement habit over and over again until it becomes seated. If you've been procrastinating on something, who cares because NOW, you're going to do something about it! After all, you have control. Go out there today and live life. Unless you believe in reincarnation, you've got one life! Go live it and remember, you'll be happy if you try to be. *whispers* you actually have to try.
08/15/10 Sleep on it! Did you now that your unconscious mind processes information while you sleep? Rapid Eye Movement (rem sleep). Your eyes are moving, (I believe) because your brain is processing information you learned that day, and firing off neurons with other information. The unconscious communicates in images, which is why you'll remember images from your dreams. This goes way back to what Napoleon Hill said in Think and Grow Rich but is still incredibly useful today, after all, we're talking about pretty much the same human brain. When you go to sleep, consciously think about something that you have the intention of thinking about while you are sleeping. Literally think, or even say out loud that you want a different perspective on it, a solution to a challenge or an alternate approach at making something happen. Have the total belief, by getting absolutely certain that your mind will go to work when you sleep. Trust that it will happen and drift on off. Your unconscious mind is always processing information and making suggestions. This "entity" if you will, isn't "mappable" between it and your conscious mind (your analytical, logical, critical thinking part of your mind, the one that you're utilizing right now) so the question then becomes coordination. That means, the more you identify it's existence (your unconscious) the more you do things like mind clearing exercises throughout your day, the more the communication grows between these two entities. I've found that developing a deep rapport, that is a foundational trust between these two minds, creates incredible states and a great basis for congruency in mind - that is - being totally aligned, totally sharp and pretty precise. Sitting and thinking for more than the normal 20th century human thought blip! I'm telling you guys, thinking into things, in a possibility orientation is one of the keys to total happiness, creativity and explorational brain functioning.
Reading - If you read, you'll engage your brain. If you engage your brain, the channels open to flood in the creativity.
I come up with the most creative stuff from doing all the above things, and you can do it to. When I first started writing articles on power of a positive mind, I was exploring a shift in focus (changing from all the detrimental disempowering internal dialog and unresourceful and inaccurate thinking patterns) and I remember that because I had made so many distinctions, I had come across so many NEW ways to look at things, and that information was flooding my mind, there wasn't a shortage of data to put down on paper, (my computer) an thus, Power of a Positive Mind was born. Maybe this spark in creativity for you can mean a shift that changes your life drastically! Explore it!!
08/13/10 Friday! Wooooo! It's a bit rainy here in Pa, but still, it's a great day. I find that change in life in an awesome way comes with an everyday focus towards something different. What's today's focus going to be? What will you focus on all day, keeping it in your awareness, or at least in the "back of your mind" so that you can understand it more and take it to the next level? What about the question "How can I be happy the majority of the time?" Or even "Happiness comes with consistent forward motion towards bettering my life." You could use "training your mind is the foundation for a great life." The point is, create a theme for the day and hold it in your awareness for the entire day. This keeps you coming back and focusing on ONE thing that you know can help you in your life right now. The more you focus on it, the more it becomes permanent! Have a great day today! Enjoy it!!
08/12/10 One More Day! But Hey, we're happy on the way! Let's talk about action today. Action is giving birth to achievement everyday in people's lives. Is it taught in school? Do they teach us how to take action? How to muster up the courage? Is there an internal order of thoughts to think that puts us in a place where we feel like we're going to act no matter what? NO! We are never taught any of that! That is why there are personal development and peak performance coaches out there, helping other human beings to break through mental barriers of fear and get their lives where they want them to be! You can get the feeling to act when you visualize your goals so much, that it's become incredibly compelling. If you know you need to take an action on something, a good body shift will get you in an intense state and lastly, if you take one action, if you can just get yourself to get up and take the action, the FEELING YOU GET after you do, will fuel you to take the next. 08/11/10 Wednesday! Today I want to talk to you about making real decisions. One of the smallest things, that can make the biggest difference in your life is to make decisions, and then to stick to them. Most people think "I am going to start to lose weight," or "I will work to improve this area of my life," but then fall back into the same trap of rationalization, where they don't follow through and then they come up with what they think are valid reasons why. That stops people! When I decided to quit smoking, that's it, I never smoked again. Sure I thought about it for the first couple of weeks, but I didn't even think about actually doing it. I had begun to train my mind prior to quitting, I made a decision to quit, and then continued to train a replacement behavior (reciting things I had learned in my head). Start making absolute decisions in your life, and I guarantee you'll totally transform your reality. Decisions have the power to make major shifts, STICK TO YOURS!
08/10/10 Today is a new day! Listen everyone, one of the most powerful things I've learned from reading Richard Bandler's material (Co Founder, NLP) and even studying lot's of Robbins' work, is that questions direct the mind. If you can ask yourself "what am I going to do to make this a great day today," and you literally hold that in your awareness all day, you'll see a significant change. I've been asking myself "How much information can my brain really store successfully," so as a result, I've been reading and retaining more. Pretty simple huh? All of it is, but profoundly useful. Ask yourself a better quality question today. Remember, questions direct the mind. 08/08/10 Sunday! Enjoy your day of rest today but for those of you out there making an impact on your lives, I know you'll take one action towards your goals today!! I was recently having a conversation with someone about having internal drive, the drive to really get what they want out of life. This drive, is a drive that therapists, NLP's and peak performance coaches help people to create but the bottom line, in my experience, is that there needs to be a change in someone's brain, by gaining new information that replaces old beliefs and maps of the world in order for such change to take place, and an actual "purpose" in life to be sought out and worked for. Do you have a purpose? Have you identified it? I never had a purpose, until I decided what it was. But if you're in the mental position where deciding what it is seems impossible, your mission is to change your mind set. This can be done simply by reading. 08/07/10 Saturday! I woke up this morning thinking it was Sunday for some reason! Then when I realized it was only Saturday, I was totally thrilled about it! Ever happen to you? I'm sure it has. Listen guys, girls, today is another day to work towards creating the life you deserve. All day, control your state. All day, control what you're thinking about. Don't let inaccurate thoughts in, and focus primarily on possibilities and opportunities. I want you to try something today. Engage in 1 thing, that you would NEVER NORMALLY DO. The NND, the things you NEVER NORMALLY DO are quite powerful. They will what we call "add spice" to your life but what I have narrowed it down to, rather than just some broad overused phrased, is this need for variation in your life met in an extraordinary way. Very conducive to building strong positive beliefs about the world, what it takes to be happy and more. This is because when you're brain finds itself engaged in things that aren't normal, and are out of the box so to speak, it remembers things quite clearly and is a great time to install the right frame of mind. For example, you decide just to randomly go out to some social event. You build up the courage to do so and while you're there, you engage in conversation with as many people as you can, and you find that in fact, you are a good communicator, conversation flows easy and that making friends is easy. This change in design (the design of your surroundings) puts you in a more receptive place in your mind. 08/06/10 Friday again! Aren't the weeks going fast? Of course they are! Life Does! Let's take today and slow it down a bit. Begin to really truly appreciate what is happening around you by focusing your attention on all of the things you are truly happy about. If nothing comes to mind, create happy feelings from something. Ya know, a big part of happiness is choosing to be happy about the things you already have. Today is another day to train your mind. Control your focus, train yourself to hold in your awareness the things that are conducive to forward motion, happiness and success. 08/05/10 Counteract thoughts that don't serve you! When you look at your upcoming day, and you start to expect bad things are going to happen, or when you think about your day, you have some kind of negative association, that's an action signal that you either need to change jobs, or change the way in which you represent the situation. If you decide changing your job isn't really what you want, counteract the negative thoughts about your day before you live it. I used to be trained to say things like "oh here we go again," and "why can't I just be in good moods all of the time," and what I found was not only was I programming my nervous system to do more of that crap, I literally didn't see life in a positive manner. What you're telling yourself, will not let you see anything else. Beliefs act as filters. Counteracting the thoughts that don't serve you is as conscious thing. Don't hold a negative thought in your mind for more than 20 seconds. Do this consciously, for 10 days and YOU TELL ME that a shift hasn't taken place! It totally will! I'm not about talking on the subject of negative and positive thinking, because the associations have been distorted, I'm about thinking in terms of opportunities and possibilities, instead of limitations and restrictions. Thinking in terms of possibilities, literally opens channels up in your brain to access creativity and happiness. Negative thoughts bog that ability down and make it quite hard to do that. Let's be accurate with our expectations of our day, let's focus on the things that put us in great states and lead and contribute to good positive emotion, which leads to great action and results. 08/04/10 Wednesday! Today I want to talk to you about getting answers. One of the things that led to a total shift in my life was the act of seeking answers. I wanted a different answer to the questions "how is happiness created," and "how do people achieve success." People always told me "it just happens," "some people just get lucky," and "some were just born that way." CMON! I knew to the core that what half of the world is saying, even right now still, is total crap. When I started to not only make success, happiness, good emotion and psychology a study, but began applying what I learned into my life, my internal paradigms shifted completely because I started to realize what these things were really about. When you see a different reality, other than the one you've been conditioned to believe, it's a life changing experience. Now I understand the true meaning of being passionate about something. I understand the true meaning of taking the extra steps and going for it and I've learned to take complete and total ownership of all things in my life and as a result, I've been able to improve all of these areas in a rather short amount of time, and still going! Seek different answers in life, don't settle on the answers that you KNOW aren't true! Go find out what it really feels like to be passionate about something, go find out what it feels like to create success, happiness and fulfillment and experience the feeling of changing your world! 08/02/10 Monday! Another great week to come! Why though? Because we're going to make it that way. This week, focus specifically on the things you want to move towards in your life and you'll find that the week goes by rather quickly. Pick some things you can do to train your mind this week. For example, creating one phrase you could say about yourself, about what you are becoming or what you want to become and keep that phrase in your mind the entire day, saying it using your voice and your body (incantation). This is an effective and overly simplistic method of training your mind and giving it the right things to work from. Remember, your life is as a result of what's happening in your head. Shape your internal processes, and you'll shape your external reality. Have an amazing day everyone!
08/01/10 August! Let's get creative for a second. August, if said differently, can be agest. "a guest." Have you ever been in a situation in your life that after the event is over, you feel completely disempowered, negative, bad or upset about it? IF YOU'RE HUMAN, I know the answer is yes! The challenge is, a lot of human beings will tell you that you just have to live with it, accept it and let it fade away eventually when in fact, we don't have to do that at all. In studying NLP, I learned how to disassociate myself from an experience, to decrease the level of intensity the event had on me. Disassociating from an experience is simply running the event again in your head, but watching it as if you weren't in your body. Imagine for a moment, stepping out of your body and becoming "a guest" of the situation. You're the guest, on the sidelines, watching! The true power of detachment from a scenario is invaluable. The feelings you've linked up in your head with this event immediately change upon detachment from the associated experience. This isn't getting away from reality, because let me tell you something, quantum physics is still trying to figure out what reality is (we don't know what reality is), what you're doing here is making a conscious choice not to let yourself sit and experience negative emotion or bad feelings as a result of something that already took place and you can't change. Simple right? Will you choose to sit in the pain of the event for days on end? Or will you consciously choose to alter the way it's represented in your brain? Disassociation is one of the most powerful tools in creating different feelings for a certain event and can help you to put yourself back into a resourceful state, so you feel better, you're back on top of your game and ready to attack your world! Try it!! Become a guest of the situation, and enjoy the first day of August!
07/31/10 Listen, your life is about many things. It's about joy, it's about love, it's about connection, it's about growth, it's about contributing, it's about having fun, and much more. If you wrote down a similar list, of some of the things you think your life should be about, would you actually be living those things? I'm about helping people to operate their brains in an effective manner, I'm about helping people to LEARN HOW to be happy, and I'm about helping other human beings realize their total potential and work towards advancing in life every day, but I'm also about spreading the message that the things that you truly want, are there for you if you can decide you'll move towards them indefinitely, become aware that all it really takes is for you to learn to create them, and then to actually do it! What I've found in making fulfillment and happiness a study, is that the majority of skills necessary to truly cultivate a quality of life, are learnable and the attributes necessary to develop a winning psychology, are also learnable. 07/30/10 - Change it up! Today I want you to do yourself a favor. Whatever your normal routine is, change it! Engage in doing something completely different from what you normally do and you'll notice and start to tap into that human need for variety. I run a lot, and that's been my primary method of exercise lately but last week I signed up for the gym and started working with weights again and let me tell you something, big difference! Total surge in good feelings! Fear stops a lot of us from doing new things in our lives and we're neurologically wired to do only what we're comfortable with, but change, happiness, growth, and many other things we all truly want come with simply doing new things! If you resolved to try 5 new things, every day of your life, you'd create for yourself extraordinary circumstances within a month, I guarantee!! Even if it's going to a different restaurant than the one you normally go to. Maybe it's taking a new route to work. Maybe it's engaging in conversation with someone you never talk to, maybe it's engaging in conversation with a random person you see when you're out somewhere.. whatever it is, DO IT! This not only has the ability to change your mood quick, but it can bring some unexpected, but totally wanted situations into your life!! 07/29/10 Thursday! Already? It was just Monday!! Good things that could happen today, if you create them:
Smiles from more people to you - Create them by smiling at as many people as you can, it's contagious.
Good Moods all day - Create them by focusing on the things you love about your life, things that make you smile and the things that can move you towards advancing in some way.
Awesome communication with other people - Today, work to build rapport. Notice how being genuinely interested in what someone else has to say about something builds trust immediately. In conversation, scan for commonality and then talk about whatever you find!
Don't hold unresourceful thoughts in your head for more than 10 seconds - If you find yourself thinking thoughts that don't serve you, get rid of them. Dwelling on them, or representing whatever life situation you're thinking of in a negative way is how you've been trained to operate. Un train that habit and start to train another one by accurately thinking about life situations.
The foundation of most of what I do is helping people to control this thing we call consciousness. The more you can control what happens in your head, and your body, the more direct command you have over your life! 07/28/10 Before you go to sleep - I know of someone who is one of the most effective hypnotherapists in the United States of America. A total expert in how we get programmed by our environment (if we're not conscious of it) as well as what things actually do in people's subconscious minds. One of the most detrimental things he said, is to WATCH THE NEWS before you go to bed. You get to see all of the horrible things going on, exist in a world of pure negativity and it sinks into your subconscious and moves around while you sleep. He literally said it's the worst thing you could do, in terms of programming. He's right. Your mind is such a powerful thing, it has the ability to guide and direct your life. Things that are in there now may be stopping you from getting where you want to be in your life. That's why I talk about belief so much, because I had to go in and consciously change my beliefs, and alter my own programming to start being aligned in my life. As a result, I made all of these huge changes, and still, I continue to do so. So here's a tip, something I use and something you can benefit from using too! Right before you go to bed, recite all of your goals. Talk about the things you're working towards and while you do, create the images in your mind of you achieving these goals, or getting where you want to be in life, both in your mind and in the world. The subconscious communicates through images, this is why you dream in pictures. When you are falling asleep, fall asleep with the pictures in your mind that you want to be a reality in your life. Do this EVERYNIGHT! Doing this 1 night, like tonight, will produce a noticeable difference in the way you feel in the morning and will be working wonders in your subconscious. The power of the non active parts of your brain, is the force behind a lot of what you do on a consistent basis. The idea of taking control of your life, and becoming an effective human being is to understand HOW YOU WORK, and then consciously directing those internal processes to create the desired external results you want. Before you go to bed, give your mind the right things. But guess what? You don't have to wait until night time to install good things into your subconscious, you could be doing this all day! 07/27/10 I woke up this morning and went right into getting ready for the day. While this is great, because it gives me a head start, I didn't take the time to think for a minute or two about what I'm happy with in my life. Normally, I sit for two minutes and do just that, or read a page or two of a book that I'm reading (Authentic Happiness, Martin Seligman) and you know what? It makes all of the difference in the world. The things we consciously choose to do control and direct our states from moment to moment. Living a life where we get caught up in events and circumstances, without taking time for ourselves to tend to our minds, creates trouble!! Doesn't matter what time it is, how you feel or what you're doing, take that two minutes for yourself right when you wake up and YOU tell your brain what to focus on. Do this everyday for 1 week and I can guarantee you you'll see a noticeable change in the way you feel. Thanks for reading!
07/26/10 Monday!! Most people are about to hate their day!! Are you? Of course not! The idea of Monday being a horrible day that people dread, is a great action signal to make a change. If you don't like your job, get a new one. If you're thinking about the economy and being secure and comfortable, don't. That will keep you in a place you don't want to be! I went and sought out the owner of a company that I wanted to work for. I emailed him for months, called and left messages and finally, after most people would have given up, he called me. Now, I'm his right hand guy, working everyday, traveling around pa and nj and seeing different people and different places everyday, in a bad economy. How did I do that? Focus, ownership of my life and absolute immersion in getting what I want. What can we learn here? Something special happens when a human being makes a decision to do more than he/she ever thought he/she could do. Something clicks in your brain when you decide never again to be on the receiving end of the world, and you make the decision to start dishing stuff out. Something extraordinary happens when you begin to take absolute ownership of your life and the only person you have to BLAME or to PRAISE as a result of your situation, is you. Take ownership of your life today. It doesn't have to be something that happens over time, you can make an absolute decision right now. And hey, it may take 2 months to get to where you want to be, even more but real winners, truly successful people, people that develop the skills and psychology necessary to be successful no matter what, can thrive even in times where most other people aren't. Truly successful people could lose all of their money, and gain it back within a year. Make it so that success and achievement is WHO YOU ARE, and your life will soon follow suit. 07/25/10 Twitter is over capacity! I go on Twitter everyday because I can interact with people on a large scale, talk with people from all around the world and exchange information but I'm trying to update my picture, and their servers must really be getting hit right now because I keep getting the over capacity error! Anyhow! Today I wanted to talk to you about creating a strategy to change your mood. I've got a couple, well, probably a hundred sure fire ways to shift my mood. Normally, people don't think to do this because the accepted understanding of moods is that they just happen, and as we now know, that's not true! The moods you get in, on a day to day basis can be altered, shifted and changed. Of course I find myself in a place where I don't want to be sometimes but as soon as that happens, I shift it. You'll respond to emotions accordingly with feelings and thoughts which can induce certain moods, but the power in change lies in the understanding that it is not static, that you can direct it. Get a piece of paper and write down some things you think will influence your mood that you can do. Start becoming aware of it and using these strategies. To give you an idea, here are some of mine!
Positive Emotional Flood - I literally focus only on the things that bring instant and profound joy into my mind! I flood my nervous system with all things great!
I take 10 minutes, close my eyes, breath normally and clear my mind completely by picturing a candle in my mind, and just focusing my attention strictly on the candle. Within 5 minutes, the thoughts go away and my state of consciousness begins to shift. When I come out of it, the mood is completely different.
Submodality Alterations. This is something I learned in Neuro Linguistic Programming. If you are in a bad mood as a result of an event, change the details of the event in your head. For example, if something really stressful just happened, notice the structure of that event in your minds eye. Is it a picture? Do you hear the sounds of it still? How do you feel? With that data, change the data. Take the picture and change the color to something more dark, like a dark blue or even a gray. Run a music track over the dialog. I always play my favorite techno songs in the background, that changes the situation in my head for sure! Move the image as far away from your internal awareness as you can until it isn't visible anymore.
The more you alter the way it looks and sounds in your mind, the way you change the way it feels to you. This isn't an attempt to get away from reality, because you don't know what reality is (quantum physics is still trying to figure that out, if you only knew), so you don't have to go through life responding to your environment and letting it make you feel like s***, you can control it and change the signal in your brain. This is resourceful and powerful because it can change your state, alter your mood and put you in a place where you not only have control, but where you can make better decisions, think more effectively and really get stuff done! Then, after you have this list, make some kind of plan to implement these same kinds of things, whether they are experiences, or actual interactions with certain things, into your life. Live your life to control your life and to bring into your life, the things that create joy in your mind! Go out there and enjoy your Saturday everyone!!
07/23/10 Friday! Today is a great opportunity to look at the week, what kind of progress you've made, and how you can improve upon your routines. A secret to achievement and getting where you want to be in life is to always work towards improving your routines because let's face it, our routines shape our lives right? Whatever you do consistently is really what is shaping your life. Tip: Sit down for a half hour, give yourself this gift, and write down some of the patterns, some of the rituals or routines you've created over time. Analyze what kinds of results your routines get you. Analyze things like time, the energy used to engage in your routines and every week, work to REFINE your routines. Constant advancement in routines, in your daily schedule and what you do consistently is one of the most powerful ways to create change in your life! Today is going to be a great day for you! I'm jealous! Go out there and be happy by focusing on the bright side of life, so that you can open your head up to be aware of opportunities that can create lasting transformation in a major way as well as the know how to tap your true potential! 07/22/10 Today is Thursday already? My God! What's happening everyone! Here's a quick strategy to add more happiness and joy into your life: Use negative emotion as action signals to improve upon some area of your life, but don't let negative thoughts snowball into things that aren't even real. One of the underlying problems with people in the world, definitely America is their lack of training in their minds to not focus on negatives as if they're ever static, non changing and detrimental. They're, in all cases, a call to action. A chance for you to change something to make it better. The challenge is, because of the way most people are trained, we focus on negatives too much and blow them out of proportion. People's best defense when told to focus on the silver lining, and look for opportunities to use, is "I don't live in a fantasy world," or "I'm a realist." Well guys/girls, a realist knows the true power of human beings. A realist is intelligent enough to use their nervous system in a resourceful way and a realist understands the detrimental effects of creating a negative mind set, based only on perception, not on reality. Reality is what you observe it to be, and you get in life what you focus on, so focus on better things, and you'll, as a result, bring them into your life. Training: Literally focus on bring negatives out of your head when they arrive. Don't hold a negative thought (because it probably isn't completely accurate and real anyway) in your mind longer than 10 seconds. Instead, counteract it with one of the following questions:
What can I learn here?
Where is the Silver Lining? What is good about this?
How can I use this situation in my life?
Am I really thinking about this the right way?
And Lastly, but most powerful, am I using this thought to my advantage? Does it leave me empowered to act and be in charge of my life, or disempowered, and powerless?
Just doing that, on a consistent basis, every day of your life will literally reprogram your mind and help your brain to go in different directions. You'll notice the difference mainly in the way you feel, (great) as well as your ability to reframe situations to find the parts in them that if acted upon, bring you what we call "quality of life." Everyday, create in the morning, some kind of philosophy by which to live your day. Something like "The rewards in life show themselves, as soon as you decide you'll never give up!" 07/19/10 Monday! Yay? Yea! I know, I know, Monday's stink right? Depends on what you do with a Monday in your head! I have reframed Mondays to be one of the best days ever, why? Because it's like another opportunity (week) to get things accomplished that I want to do in my life. Living a life of purpose, where everything you do goes towards one or many things that are important to you, really adds meaning to your life and contributes directly to that thing that not a lot of us have that all of us want, happiness. Living life at random, creates confusion and lack of meaning and joy. Establish your goals, establish the reason you're here by searching for it, identifying and then deciding. Then, everyday, work towards getting closer to your ultimate goals. Human beings not only perform at their best, but they function better neurologically, physiologically, they are more effective socially and ultimately are happier when they're constantly moving towards something they want. 07/18/10 Today, let's enjoy our weekend and really be appreciative of the things we do have, and be happy about where we're going. Take about 10 minutes today, sit down in a quiet place and ensure you won't be interrupted. Close your eyes and just start to think about the things in your life that you are happy about. If you could get really excited about the things you have, and appreciate, how would that feel? What do you have that you can really appreciate having, that maybe in the past you haven't thought about so much? Maybe your kids, appreciate them. Maybe it's the job you have, take some time to appreciate it. Maybe it's a new skill you developed, a new tendency that you have that serves you, and maybe it's some progress you've made in your life over the last year, two years, 6 months or even the last week! Find something, find lots of things and hold them in your awareness while you do this exercise. 07/17/10 Saturday! I don't know about you guys/girls but it's hot here today! Today let's talk about changing your mood. Have you ever felt yourself in a mood you don't want to be in? (duh) Of course! Have you ever tried to consciously direct your own mood? Well, there are a couple great ways to do it, one of which is to change your body. We've talked about the link between physiology and the brain right? When you shift your body radically, you change your state radically, try it! Next time you end up in a bad mood, try jumping up and down for 2 minutes imagining listening to a song from the group TATU! Tell me if you feel bad now! Then there is the emotional flood. This is where you choose not to hold anything in your awareness for more than 10 seconds that brings about negative feelings, and you flood yourself with things you know will bring you positive ones! I'm not saying don't live in reality, but you don't have to live in a place that is disempowering and puts you in an unresourceful place! Use bad moods as action signals, that maybe something should change and make a decision to get yourself out of that place! 07/16/10 Friday again! Didn't this week fly by too? Yes! Let's quick talk about the brain! Listen guys/girls, your brain is an incredible thing. If you can alter your mind state for a couple of minutes, like meditation, or just clearing your mind of thoughts, you'll notice that you become more effective, your thoughts are optimized and you actually feel better! If you want to know how to really direct your mind and create a great day, meditate in the morning. While you do, visualize some of your goals, get a good sense of why you are doing what you are doing and refresh your mind's purpose as to why you're taking the actions you're taking. Remember, one of the biggest causes of frustration and depression in people is not having a purpose! Create a powerful meaning in your life and all that changes! Clear your mind and just sit and exist in the morning, for ten minutes and I guarantee that will have a profound impact on the quality of your day! Enjoy the last day of the work week, onto the weekend!
07/15/10 Halfway there! Can you believe it's almost August? I woke up this morning, and I did something I haven't done in a long time that is so powerful for the rest of the day, I jumped out of bed smiling purposely reciting the things in my upcoming day that I could be excited about and do you know what followed that? Excitement! You'll always hear me teach doing things yourself. Creating happiness yourself, creating excitement yourself, taking action and making things happen. I want to reinforce to you that it's all you, ALL YOU! Human beings make huge shifts and become extremely effective when they come to the conclusion, and I'm quoting a Brian Tracy Phrase, "If it's to be, it's up to me." Tip: When you wake up in the morning, flood yourself with positive emotion. Literally start to engage your senses and create what your day is going to be like in an exciting manner. Most people wake up and create their day through a negative lens, and end up making it a reality! That's essentially negative mental conditioning, stay away! The human brain has an ability that no other being has, and that is the ability to create experiences before we live them. The challenge is that we live in a society that has been passing on negative programming for years that people just accept it and say things like "that's reality..." or something similar. No! Reality is a persons interpretation based on internal filters of incoming sensory data. Create excitement in the morning. 07/14/10 Wednesday! I'm reading this book (for the 3rd time) called What to say when you talk to yourself. Great Book! The author, Shad Helmstetter Ph.D, discusses in the book internal dialog. If you've read some of the articles here on Power of a Positive Mind, you know I'm pretty big on the way you communicate to yourself. The book talks about negative programming and how your entire life, you may have communicated to yourself in a way that conditioned your brain to limit you in taking action, getting what you want and even being happy! The way you talk to yourself in your head is probably one of the most important things ever. A lot of it is unconscious, that is people don't know that they are actually doing that, and in what form. Many people talk in pictures, in fact most people do. There is always some kind of internal dialog happening, an actual voice and words and in all cases, there are little nudges of thought or feeling, which sometimes never go past that and are made sense of. I've learned that not only success, but achievement, happiness and fulfillment come with communicating to yourself in a more resourceful way. It changes everything. Today, be aware of how you communicate to yourself. Can you influence it? Go out there and rock!
07/13/10 Happy Tuesday! Today's gonna be a great day for all of us. Take the time today to step outside of your normal thoughts, your normal routine and your normal way of existing to just observe. Observe yourself, observe everyone else, try to look at everything with an unfamiliar eye. I was reading a workbook by Joseph O'Connor on NLP and one of the exercises in the book was to take one day, and make it a visual, auditory or kinesthetic day meaning that throughout the entire day, I would pay extra attention to one of those 3 senses. The visual day was amazing because things suddenly looked different. Everything was more rich in color, which gave things a different meaning. The auditory day was equally amazing. I got to hear sounds I never heard before just because I was paying attention to them. It's amazing what our brains delete. The "feeling" day was definitely one to remember! Imagine consciously engaging your feelings, and shaking people's hands for too long! It was an experience! Point is, take the time to really see your life through a different lens today. Feeling different in your head creates different meanings, perspectives, feelings, actions and ultimately, results. Thanks for reading, have a great day!
07/12/10 Monday! Ready for the week? Let's do this! This week let's focus on training our minds. I believe that training your mind basically the underlying infrastructure for change in your life. Just like picking up a basketball, and tossing it around, you don't become a Michael Jordan in one day, it takes time. The great part about conditioning your mind is that it's impossible for it not to work! I believe in affirmations, but to me mental conditioning is more writing down the things you want to say, saying them all day and making it an active part of your brain on a consistent basis! Make the decision that this week is going to be intense! Convince yourself, train yourself to believe, create empowering patterns and remember, the reason you are the way that you are is because you've trained yourself to be that way, anything can be unlearned, and good patterns can be learned! 07/11/10 Enjoy Today!! Let's make today the best Sunday in a while by truly enjoying every moment of it and choosing to focus on the right things! Focus on the things that make you happy today, focus on the benefits of your life and look specifically for great experiences. You see, one of the major barriers in human beings is that they only look for things that bring them down. They look to prove their theory of the world by seeking out bad feelings, negative experiences and the like. Invariably, they find it. This is nothing new folks but listen, you get what you focus on. Choose to focus on the things that put you in resourceful emotional states. Identify those things on a daily basis and then focus on them to get yourself into state! Don't over think, just focus on the things that put a smile on your face. Hold them in your awareness, hydrate, eat the right things and I guarantee you, no matter what happens in your day, you'll make the absolute best of it and not just looking at life through rose colored glasses, but using your brain in an effective manner, to represent life and everything in it in a way that puts you in a place of power, instead of a place if limitation! 07/10/10 Happy Saturday! For those of you in Eastern Pa, darn rain! Hope everyone has a great weekend. Do the following things to ensure the best weekend you've had in a while:
Exercise for at least 30 minutes all together.
As soon as you wake up, write a list of what you'll do for that day!
Stick to the list!
For those of you who meditate, or just sit and clear your mind, DO IT!
If you've never done it before, sit down and think about nothing for 30 minutes, I guarantee that will benefit you greatly!
Look at every experience this weekend as being a new experience. Part of what stops people from enjoying life is that they see it as a reoccurring experience because similar things may have happened. Everyday is something new, it's an entirely new life, see it that way and you add directly to your happiness.
Incant to yourself the things you want to have, what you want to become and what your life is to be like in the future. For example, in the morning, say "I am training my mind for success," or"I am becoming more intelligent everyday of my life," or "I am a great [fill in the blank]," or even "I create joy in every experience!" These ideas are being received by your mind and you'll be more aware of them, you'll see them more in your life and as we know this has a profound effect on your psychology.
Overall, have a kick butt weekend and remember, your life is yours, make it the way YOU truly want it to be.
07/09/10 Friday! You guys/girls happy? Woooooooo! I know we're all gonna have a kick butt weekend! What are your plans? Plan it good! Even though it's the weekend, here's something that can definitely make it a lot more enjoyable, and a lot less hectic! Write out a small plan. Just document some of the things you are going to do and get them out of your head onto paper! In addition, if you have some goals you want to achieve this weekend, things you want to get done, write them out and give them deadlines! Work from a mini schedule! This is now a great time to look at the week, and measure your progress. How much more effective are you RIGHT NOW than you were on Monday? How much more do you have done, in terms of your goals, your job, your kids, your relationships, your passions, your communication, all else, this week that you now have measurable results in? The goal for each week is to get better in at least one thing, and then be able to see clearly where you excelled! It's a great feeling to look at what you've done and notice the shifts, see the advancements and continue to move forward in your life! Also, this Sunday is a great time to set the next weeks goals, or things you get to do! Have a great weekend everyone!
07/08/10 Wooooo It's Thursday already! Hasn't this week gone incredibly fast for you? What's the difference? We're definitely happier this week and more in charge of our lives! That creates great weeks that comprise great days and moments. Let's not let today be any different. Wherever you are, enjoy the weather today. If it's hot, drink plenty of water and stay cool! Enjoy the day for what it is, not what you don't like about it. Train your mind to focus on the things that please you and you will see more of them. Train your mind to learn from every communication you have with another person, and you will become a better communicator and lastly, train your mind to be aware of your own state! Control your moods, direct your own feelings and you will inevitably have a kick butt day, no matter what physical things happen in your life. A new life begins with the training of your mind! Make 2 strong decisions today about something you're either going to work more at, get better in, become more advanced at or grow in. Make the true decision to excel in this area. Start acting on it today. Take 1 action towards making your decision work for you. Remember, successful people in life, not just in terms of money, are decision makers. 07/06/10 Today, live with passion. Live your day today as if you were really serious about life. Isn't life exciting to you? Or have you made it the opposite? Listen, choose to be amped about everything you do today. Think about a point, a belief, an event or something similar that you are very passionate about. Maybe it's the love you have for your mate, for your family, or for a friend. Whatever it is, really put yourself in that place in your mind. Start to think about what about it makes you passionate about it. Once you have identified what it is, create those feelings of passion within your body, relive them! In your life, in your day, the only one who is going to make it exciting and fun to live is you. Decide today that you'll add some more passion into your life! 07/03/10 Today is the best day of your life! Well, what would make that true? What could you do today that will really allow you to create a great level of joy in your body? Maybe it's taking the time to do something you know you love to do. Often times, through the complexity of our lives, we stop taking the time to do what makes us happy and then say "I don't have time." Listen, you have time, you may not be using it effectively. Take time for you! Make the time, this is your happiness! Today, resolve to create a joyful experience. Really live in the moment and get the maximum amount of joy you can extract from it! 07/02/10 Friday! Today is the day where we prepare for the kick butt weekend that's coming up! You guys got plans? Today, work towards accomplishing your goals for the week, but keep in mind the weekend that's coming up! Excite yourself about the things you GET to do this weekend and the freedom you'll have to do what you want! Do the right things, be careful and have fun! The weekend is a great time to analyze what you did this week that moved you closer to what you want, and to identify what is wasting your time or holding you back! In addition, Sunday is the day where we set our new weekly goals! Live strong this weekend ladies, gentleman and take this phrase to the core and live by it: "It's the warriors who can stay strong during the blind faith period, when no results are visible."
07/01/10 Another Beautiful Day! Today, take one thing and hold it in your awareness the entire day. I learned this from listening to an audio program from Dr. Deepak Chopra. This thing that you hold in your head is similar to a mantra, it's something you basically incant to yourself and it's kind of like an affirmation. For example: "Be genuinely interested in other people today," or "People say entrepreneurs are nuts because they do things that people think cant' be done," (I use that a lot) or you could hold a small phrase and even just a word in your awareness... "abundance, success, achievement, advancement, intelligence, and lastly, one of my ultimate favorites, PRECISION!" This can have a positive psychological effect on you. To put it quite simply, the more you focus on something, the more you're aware of it, you see opportunities to create it and ultimately it comes into your experience. Try it! Otherwise, use your ingenuity that you inherently have today. Do something you wouldn't normally do, and I guarantee you you'll get results you don't normally get. 06/30/10 Ok, hump day is here, let's celebrate!! Voodoo! Listen guys, girls, I want to share with you an interesting quote I came up with... "Your brain, on autopilot, will limit you when you don't direct and control it." Listen, when you don't believe something is possible, you're telling your nervous system that it isn't. If you don't think you're doing a good job at something, you won't. If you don't believe that it's possible for you to make something happen, or to accomplish something, you don't allow yourself the brain functioning to access the thoughts, ideas, ingenuity and so on to get the job done. Think of your brain as a seeker. It seeks things out when you consciously ask it questions, by thinking and wondering. You can either free up it's path on which to seek, or you can block the path by counteracting conscious thought. It takes some time to retrain your brain but just know, when you're shifting your beliefs, changing your conditioning, working towards happiness or anything else, that's what you are doing. Human beings only make changes when they make internal neurological changes first. Look at your thoughts and internal processes at a neurological level. Know that your brain has to seek, and that just like anyone who seeks, "they shall find." Your job is simply to not create roadblocks and what you'll find is that your brain automatically does it's job the right way. Control over your thoughts is probably the most valuable skill you will ever have, cultivate it! Today you will soar with accomplishment as you either set some great goals for yourself and believe you can attain them, or you take actions today to either work towards them or get some done! Do Great! You've got awesome written all over you.
06/29/10 Tomorrow is Hump Day! But let's not wait until the week is half over, or Friday to enjoy our lives! Many people go through their everyday experience waiting for the weekend, never really enjoying the week. You can maximize the amount of joyful feelings you have simply by consciously trying to enjoy every moment of your life. A tip: Human beings love difference. Pick 5 NEW things, throughout this week that you're going to enjoy, that you will DO, engage in, think or work on! Change up your routine, engage in these new things and give your brain the opportunity to focus on something it never has before. You'll find a miracle; it adds directly to your happiness. 06/27/10 Today, let's have a strong day. For those of you who want to work towards achieving your goals, but haven't taken much action, become strong today and take an action. You'll feel like a million bucks! For those of you struggling with food, take control today and be strong! If something recently took place in your life that has put you in a negative place, find the lesson in it, find the silver lining and use the challenge as an opportunity to expand as a human being. Put yourself in a state of strength by remembering a time when this already existed. How were you breathing? Breath that same way. How were you picturing things in your head? Picture things the same way! How did you communicate with yourself? Was it fast and strong internal dialogue? Communicate the same way in your mind to yourself! Remember, the way you feel depends largely on the level of control you believe you have over it, and your resolve to make a decision as to how to feel! Today is a strong day for you!
06/26/10 Saturday! What a beautiful day here in the Lehigh Valley, Pa! Hope the weather is nice where everyone else is! Today I want to talk about something I normally don't talk about to much, but will start to in the near future and that is, exercise! The dreaded exercise! Cm on! Listen, did you know that a daily exercise routine is more effective than the popular heart surgery angioplasty? Oxygenated blood to your brain helps the operation of your body in a magnificent way. That's why if you notice, right when you wake up, if you take a jog, or work out, you've set the tone for your day! The way your body pushes around fats and other substances and helps tremendously with getting rid of waste is with your lymphatic system. However, that system doesn't have it's own pump! (like your blood does your heart) It actually relies on exercise and heavy breathing to flow! So keep that in mind, get that lymph flowing in your body, breath heavy, send your brain the oxygenated stuff it needs and live an optimum day! 06/25/10 Friday! What I love about Friday is it gives us the chance to reflect. I do this exercise every Friday where I look at the week and ask my self a series of questions pertaining to my goals, so that I can ensure I stay on track. Every Sunday, set for yourself a goal (s) for the week. Work throughout the week to accomplish those goals. At the end of the week, on Friday, find and write down your sustains (what you did well, that moved you closer, and that you want to keep doing great!) and improves (what you think you could be doing better, based on your own analysis) Write these things down! It seems so basic, personal development literature has been preaching it for years, but the truth is, it can change your life. Another thing to remember, and I say this because of a comment that I received from a friend of mine, Alex, is that reality is what you make it. Reality is not static, there is no actual reality. We create reality. This is why people's perception and processing of incoming sensory data can be extreme opposites. Your reality is based on events that took place in your life, your belief systems and your own filters you use to process information. Everything can be angled in hundreds of ways. There are no right or wrong ways to process information, give meaning to events, but there are effective and ineffective ways. ;) Have a great weekend everyone! 6/24/10 Welcome to the best Thursday you've had in a month! You know what tomorrow is right? Friday! Today I want to talk about the effects of skepticism on life! Listen, it's ok to be skeptical of something you're not sure of. People can have completely different understandings of certain things, based on past experiences, beliefs stored in their minds and their own mental programming. This is why there is an extreme difference in both the psychology and the actions of pessimists and optimists. When I first got into self development, starting getting tapes and reading tons of books, I was a bit skeptical too but you know what? When I actually thought about what I was reading, literally applied it into my life on a consistent basis, I changed my life. Human beings are naturally skeptical, it's a survival mechanism. The point is, I believe that just like human evolution, life is trial and error. Try something, if it doesn't work for you, or feel good to you, don't try it anymore but give yourself the chance to actually see results; give yourself time. Remember, Mental Prison, which ultimately limits your life in a large way, comes from being closed minded, only subscribing to 1 philosophy in life and assuming you know the world. This place is a place to learn. Nothing is static. Nothing just "happens," either. If there is something you've been skeptical about in your life, but that you know deep down can probably help you to make a significant shift in your life, give it a shot! Remember, and I know a lot of people are going to disagree here!.. but skepticism, cynicism and pessimism breed failure, an unhappy unfulfilled life and so much more. Life is about experiencing it the way it was meant to be experienced, learning as much as you can everyday, helping other people, being a part of something, growing, advancing, contributing and loving.
06/23/10 Today is another great day! (Do you see the pattern)? Listen, your day, and the quality of it, depends on whether or not you'll decide you're going to have a great day. The outside circumstances have no say unless we surrender to them. Here is a powerful tip to ensure you have a great day no matter what happens.
When you wake up, Recite out loud to yourself, using your voice and your body (get intense) that the day is going to be great because. If you language your power statements like "it will be great because," and then you follow it up with things you'll conquer and make happen, you can't go wrong. For example, "Today is going to be a great day because I will look at things with an unfamiliar eye. I will think differently about everything and as a result, everything will be different. I'll gain insights, learn new knowledge, understand things better and my mind will be more clear throughout the day. I will look for things that put a smile on my face and take at least 1 action towards something I want in my life!" You see, the quality of your day (or life) depends on nothing other than the quality of how you angle life situations. Your brain processes information either way. It can either process it in a way that makes you feel like crap, or you can consciously process information in a way that makes you feel vital, strong, energized, happy, ambitious, ready to tackle life's challenges and happy. You just have to make a CONSCIOUS decision to learn to process your life in that empowering manner. 6/22/10 Today was a great day! It rained here in PA for a little bit. Today, the message is this: In every experience in your life, whether you're at the store or just going about your normal routine, make it something you'll never forget. Think about that for a second??? We get so bogged down by what we're worried about in our lives that we seldom take time to appreciate moments for what they could truly bring us. Today I was at Walmart picking up a lint roller (darn fuzzies) and as I stepped outside, it started to pour! It was raining so hard, coming down so fast and everyone was getting wet! Luckily, there was a bit of an awning from the roof so I quickly shifted over there and got to a dry point. It took about ten minutes for die down until I could walk without getting drenched. Ya know what's interesting though? Two years ago I would have sat there, under the awning, with a dissatisfied look on my face telling myself in my head how much the situation sucked! Instead, today, I chose to actually look at the rain coming down, something I have never really done before. I started to trace it up to the sky, I had an enormous smile on my face and people driving by must have thought I was nuts! The point is, I DECIDED (MAKE THE DECISION) to really enjoy that moment and make it an experience I'd never forget. If you live life to create moments of joy, you will have moments of joy. Don't let it get away from you, I know you may have been (like most people are) trained to think that happiness, and all of the other things we want as human beings comes only when something on the outside happens.. or something similar, but the truth is, it's a physiology (what you do with your body) it's the way your brain processes information (I can look at this like this.. or I can look at this like that) and it's your ability to keep thinking different things, not doing and reacting the same way to events in life and among many other things, its deciding to create those feelings within you. Train yourself to enjoy every experience in your life. Take the next week and do this, report back to me in email! (I should have the comment forms up within a week!) Kick butt, talk tomorrow.
06/21/10 - Hope everyone is doing great! It's the beginning of the summer and it's gonna be a great one! Take time to enjoy yourselves this summer. Enjoy the weather, enjoy your friends, enjoy your family and enjoy your possessions. Enjoy yourself, enjoy what you have accomplished, enjoy your freedom, and enjoy the fact that you are working towards bettering your life, everyday (and if you're not, START!) This summer is a great opportunity for us all to get clear about what we want this winter and how to get there. I'm going to be posting on here, everyday, these little blurbs! That was some REALLY good stuff in todays message. I dont know if you actually realize how much power you have upstairs to uplift people right now with what you know. You seriously are some wisdom beyond your years Ryan. Use this to your advantage now. Go out and make a difference. If only more people could think this way and not lose focus no matter how hard it gets. What would this place look like today?
